The Department of Information and Communication Technology

 

«Informatics» has been studied at the Department of Economic Cybernetics in the Akmola Agricultural Institute since 1972.

The Department has been functioning as an independent structural unit since 1992.

Since 2019, the Register of educational programs introduced new educational programs of bachelor's, masters and doctoral studies, assigned to the Department of «Information and communication technologies»:

1) 6B06102 – «Business Informatics» (bachelor's degree);

2) 7M06103 – «Information Business Analytics» (master's degree in scientific, pedagogical and profile areas);

3) 8D06103 – «Modeling and Optimization of Business Processes» (doctoral research, teaching and profile areas).

In 2020, all educational programs have passed international accreditation for 3-5 years. In the IAAR-2020 rating EP 6B06102 - "Business Informatics" took 6th place among 21 universities.

The main activities of the Department are research and teaching disciplines related to information and communication technologies. The staff of the faculty of the Department is 16 people, including 4 candidates of science, 1 PhD, 1 lecturer, 10 masters. 5 teachers of the Department have been trained abroad in the UK, Portugal, Germany, Russia.

In the period from 2011 to 2019, teachers of the Department published 9 textbooks recommended by the MES of Kazakhstan.

The research work of the department is carried out within the framework of grant funding for scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects for 2021-2023 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the scientific project AP09260956 "Scientific and methodological foundations of the organization of the educational process in the conditions of distance learning at the agricultural research university."

The department makes significant efforts to find and attract additional funds to support scientific work. So, recently, 3 projects have been prepared for participation in the competition for grant funding (headed by G.K. Muratova, Zh.M. Tashkenbaeva), 2 projects (headed by K.E. Koxegen) under the “Newton-Al- Farabi", the administrators of which are the "Science Foundation" JSC and the British Council, "Smart Astana", the administrator of which is the Astana Innovations company.

The publication activity of the teaching staff of the department in the context of peer-reviewed international publications included in the Scopus and Web of Science databases is high. 5 teachers of the department have an h-index from 1-3, including the winners of the independent Web of Science Award (Clarivate Analytics) for their outstanding contribution to the development of science.

Involvement in scientific work is an important aspect in the learning process and in the formation of a student's personality. Every year, the department holds a subject Olympiad on "Information and communication technologies" between 1st year students of all specialties.

Teachers of the Department of ICT Kөksegen Ә.E., Tashkenbaeva Zh.M. participated in the "TOM: Kazakhstan" project, where they developed a prototype of the "Modernized tricycle for people with cerebral palsy", thereby proving the effectiveness of the prototype. Members of the KazATU team received certificates, as well as the main prize of the project - training in business partnership.

Since September 2020, senior lecturer of the department, master, certified business analyst IQBBA, certified Astana Hub tracker, responsible for R&D at the faculty of Seifullina A.O. work is underway to raise awareness among students and teaching staff of the faculty to stimulate innovation both at the Department of ICT and at the faculty of KSiPO. As a result of the work carried out:

- Students of the departments of ICT and IP prepared a startup project "CrossTime" for participation in the business incubation program of Nazarbayev University "ABC Incubation x TCA 2.0" (http://nuris.nu.edu.kz/incubation2021) in the period from 12.02.2021. until 6.05.2021 The project also participates in the Universal Sports & Games Hackathon Online Hackathon from 23 to 25 April 2021.

- the Internet resource http://science-innovation.tilda.ws/ was developed, containing information about the conferences, internships, funding, scholarships within the framework of the master's thesis of the 1st year undergraduate student of the ICT Department on the topic "Analysis of business processes of scientific activities of the Faculty of CSVT".

- open lectures are held for students with the participation of leading IT specialists.

Thus, students under the guidance of the department teachers take an active part in republican and international competitions of research student projects, in the conference "Seifullin Readings", where they make reports, demonstrate research results and win prizes annually.

A good material and technical base and qualified teaching staff allow students to obtain high-quality professional knowledge and become specialists in the field of information and computer technologies.

History of the Department

In Akmola agricultural Institute discipline «Informatics» was conducted at the Department of economic Cybernetics since 1972. As an independent structural unit, the Department has been functioning since 1992, the head of which was Ph. D., associate Professor A. I. Chernyavsky. In 1996, the Department of Informatics was merged with the Department of pedagogy and became the Department of pedagogy and Informatics. In 2001, by the decision of the academic Council of the University, the Department of pedagogy and Informatics was reorganized and on its basis the Department of information technology was organized. The Department was producing on specialty 370440 – «Software and hardware of computer equipment and systems». At different times the Department was headed by Openkina Elena Aleksandrovna, Baizhanova Zinash Tastemirovna, Gumarova Zhumabike Safieva, Nurmukhanova Kanshaim Zhumagaliyevna, Koxegen Alia Erishevna, Tursynbai Nurgul Faizullaevna, Murzabekova Gulden Yeslyambekovna.  On February 26, 2010, by the

International cooperation

The Department of «Information and communication technologies» closely cooperates with scientists of other universities, including foreign ones. There is a joint work on international scientific projects funded by the US National Science Foundation, the European Union under the Erasmus program.

The teachers of the Department Koxegen A. E. and Seifullina A. O. had language training and training at the University of Reading, Great Britain according to the specialty «Pedagogical diagnostics, assessment and quality management of education» within the international scholarship of the President of Kazakhstan «Bolashak».

Senior lecturer, master Zhumaseitova Samal Duisenbaevna had the training courses for teachers of pedagogical specialties of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan «Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ELTHE)» at the University of Newcastle, UK, with a certificate.

Lecturer, master of the Department Kulmuratova Alima Shingysovna had training courses for teachers of pedagogical specialties of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan «Professional Development in Education and organizational skills in High education Institutions» on the basis of the technical University ISEL of Lisbon, Portugal, with a certificate.

Student life

Issues related to educational work are annually reviewed at the meetings of the department. Much attention is paid to the department's advisory work. There are 7 curators at the department:

Curators of the Department run open curatorial classes, unscheduled lectures, meetings with interesting people, they are awarded diplomas for active work.

In recent years, 3 curators were awarded the title of «Best curator».
